Last weekend 10,000 professional photographers gathered at the Opryland Hotel in Nashville, TN for the annual Professional Photographers of America convention. From Saturday, January 13th through Tuesday, January 16th, days were filled with educational sessions that spanned a 12 hour day. I mixed and mingled with photographers whose skill levels ranged from amateur to professionals at the top of the industry. I learned about marketing to today's tech-savvy and highly visual consumer. I learned from keynote speaker, Ryan Estis, to adapt, thrive, and skill up in a fast changing world. I learned from Canon reps in the ubiquitous Expo Hall, Adobe Evangelist Julieanne Kost, David Trust, PPA CEO, and Lindsay Adler, nationally known fashion photographer. No matter one's professional field, whether it be tech, law, or medical, conventions are a great way to network and to get super-charged for your passion - mine being photography!
